Etzer Emile
Biography
Etzer EMILE is an economist and also holds an MBA with a specialization in Finance. He has accumulated solid experience in supporting the creation and management of businesses. In recent years, he has also distinguished himself for his multiple research and analysis works in the field of economics on Haiti.
Between 2004 and 2008, he studied economics at Quisqueya University and Sociology at the Faculty of Humanities of UEH. In 2011, he graduated from and Banking in Taiwan. Between 2012 and date, Etzer Emile has received various training courses at Harvard Kennedy School, Oklahoma State University, Belgium, Mexico, Guatemala and Taiwan on economic development, entrepreneurship, private sector strengthening and fundraising.
Professional careers
Program coordinator at Quisqueya University, lecturer, teacher, host of an economic program, he is also the author of various articles and a best-selling book published in November 2017, Haiti has chosen to become a poor country: The twenty reasons that prove it. After studying for a master's degree in Taiwan and a short work experience in the United States, he returned to Haiti where he coordinated several programs, projects and activities in recent years, most of which were funded by donors, including the IDB's FOMIN and the Clinton-Bush Fund for Haiti, aimed at project financing, entrepreneurial education, and capacity building for businesses and organizations. He recently worked with the Copenhagen Consensus on a series of research projects focused on cost-benefit analysis for various themes such as poverty, energy, border trade and agriculture. In the private sector, he has conducted multiple consultations for companies in various sectors through his consulting firm Haïti Efficace in terms of coaching and conducting studies aimed at recovery, market research, product launch, obtaining incentives, marketing strategy, training, market analysis or financing. Nearly fifty Haitian companies and associations have already benefited from his services such as BRANA, AIC, Comme Il faut, ACME, Auto Plaza, JB Vital SA, Haiti Renewable Energy (HER), Les Céréales d'Haïti, Hôtel Mont-Joli, the Haitian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Franco-Haitian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, etc.
For example, he has already led household surveys and market studies for various institutions, whether on the reception of transfers from the diaspora, energy consumption, alcohol consumption, fuel consumption and the acquisition of automobiles or the national flour market. At the same time, at the public sector level, he had the chance to work first as a consultant at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training and the Prime Minister's Office. At the level of international organizations, he has offered various support services in terms of capacity building and efficiency research for the World Bank, WFP, HELVETAS, Desjardins International / PANSEH, SOS Children's Village, Canadian Embassy, UN WOMEN, etc.
He is also co-founder of the Avenir Foundation, which focuses on the education, supervision and comprehensive development of young Haitians.
